harvesting

The plants grown regularly in the dye garden are: madder, weld, coreopsis, tango cosmos, aztec marigold, and double black hollyhock. Other plants I have grown include: black knight scabiosa, woad, indigo, horehound, and hopi black dye sunflowers. I harvest these plants, sometimes with the help of student volunteers, beginning in June until November. I use some fresh for dyeing or printing, and others are dried and stored for later.
