Katerina Gribkoff is an artist and researcher living in the Burren in western Ireland. She has a BFA in Drawing from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and a Ph.D. in practice-based artistic research from the Burren College of Art (BCA) and University of Galway. Her Ph.D. project studied how permaculture and
systems thinking might affect the organisation of an artistic practice, and as part of this research, she founded the Burren Dye Garden project on campus at BCA. From the dye garden, Katerina harvests plants and synthesises pigments for use as dyes and inks.
Katerina's artistic practice includes quilting, sculpture, drawing, and film photography. Her work is inspired by the plants she grows and tends and the wider landscape of the Burren. She has recently shown work at the Linen Biennale in Northern Ireland (2025), the Galway International Arts Festival (2024), The Irish Embassy in Indonesia (2024), and in Saarbrücken, Germany as part of Zeitgeist Irland 2024. Katerina regularly disseminates her research and interests through workshops, collaborative projects, and writing.
